About us
Community Action Resource Centre (CARC) was incorporated in February 2004 as a result of a merger of the following two sister organizations, both local community information centres: Connect Information Post (located in Ward 17, Davenport) began providing service in 1984 as a result of a City of Toronto report in 1980 that identified the need for a community information centre in the Junction area of West Toronto. Community Information Centre For The City Of York (located in Ward 12, York-South Weston), started as a program of the Social Planning Council of the City of York (Y-CASP) in 1987 and incorporated as an independent organization in 1990. CARC is a non-profit organization registered in Ontario. CARC has federal charitable status and as such is permitted to provide provide a receipt for donations for income tax purposes.
Established in 2006 by Evergreen in partnership with the local community, the Emmett Avenue Community Garden is the only community space for growing food in Eglinton Flats park at the intersection of Jane-Eglinton in Weston-Mount Dennis.
